Families in need of decent, affordable housing can apply for homeownership online or by contacting Tri-River Habitat for Humanity. All persons, regardless of background, race, religion or national origin, can apply and potential candidates will then be required to complete a formal Habitat for Humanity application.
Our selection committee chooses potential homeowners based on three criteria:
2. Their employment status and creditworthiness.
3. Their ability to qualify for and pay an affordable mortgage through a long-term payment plan.
Applicants must be willing and able to complete at least 400 hours of “sweat equity” towards the building of Habitat homes, which means that they must help in the actual construction of their future home. Sweat equity can also include taking home ownership classes.
The applicant and family must also be willing to live in a neighborhood and site location on property currently owned and controlled by
Tri River Habitat for Humanity.
Most importantly, the applicant must be willing to attend the required workshops for successful homeownership.
