About Us

Who We Are

TRI-RIVER HABITAT is a dedicated group of citizens from all walks of life who share the same mission as the national and international organizations of Habitat for Humanity. We envision a world where everyone has a decent place to live. We believe in the goodness of mankind and we try to put God’s love into action by bringing people and families together to build homes, communities, and hope for a stable and prosperous future.

Habitat for Humanity International is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian organization dedicated to eliminating substandard housing and homelessness worldwide and to making adequate, affordable shelter a matter of conscience and action.

Today, Habitat for Humanity global leaders, volunteers and supporters have raised the walls on close to a million homes. Since its founding in 1976, the organization has built, rehabilitated or repaired thousands of homes around the world in service to more than 250 million people.

TRI-RIVER HABITAT for Humanity, founded in 1987, is a regional organization with a similar mission with a two-fold purpose of building homes in Halifax County in partnership with God’s people in need, and to provide local residents, clubs, organizations, businesses and churches the opportunities for volunteer service and contributions to improve the quality of life in our area.

To date, TRI-RIVER HABITAT has built fifteen homes. They hope to break ground for another new home in Spring 2018.
